This book made me thank God I was born a Western woman It is a true story of a Muslim girl and her friend. It is a tribute to that friend and is written to highlight an ancient tradition …Honour killing…killing women who are believed to have brought dishonour to the family. I was so moved I wrote a poem in tribute,

My World stood still as I read your book
My eyes could no longer see
A woman lost for love
A modern tragedy
A violent act of honour crime
Must not allow those killed to be forgot
We must oppose this violent act
To continue IT CANNOT!
Women who understand The rules they must follow
Must teach us all Of how men in glory wallow
To take a life is not for love It is an act of power
We must remember this Day by day, hour by hour.
Take away the power and a weak man lies
So we must speak out Before another woman dies

Pete bought me a lovely poetry book, it has many of my favourites from my childhood in it, I had a book given to me by my Granddad Tom but never had it returned when I lent it to a friend, sadly I was not able to get it back so this is very special to me.
