WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF A SNAKE BITE
The Blunt Nosed –Viper is the only snake on Cyprus which can be dangerous to man and pets.
STAY CALM
TRY TO RELAX
LIMIT MOVEMENT
This seems to be a strange thing to suggest as staying calm will be the last thing you will want to do!!
Adrenalin will be pumping around the system along with your blood and the snake poison so by keeping calm and still (if not alone) is the best thing.
Seek immediate medical attention.
Dog owners on the island are encouraged and advised to carry snake bite kits.

Four Top Websites - Free Accommodation for the Traveller
Four top websites offering assistance to obtain free accommodation for travellers, yes, FREE!
Students and budget travellers will love this; there are homes around the world who offer you a free overnight stay.
Plan your vacation on a tight budget using these websites.
The idea behind all of the sites is to get you, the traveller a comfortable clean resting place when you opt to pack your backs and go trekking. Some of the sites charge a small fee to join and others are free and you join a 'club' where you get to know fellow travellers on the internet and organise your stay with them directly. When you join some of the free sites you are required to become a free host in your home too, obviously this is only ideal if the owner of the property you live in agrees! Tenants be aware of your contract and students who are living at home, ask the folks first before they have happy travellers turning up expecting to kip down for the night on the new sofa.
They have 100's of countries to choose from and thousands of homes to choose from. It is wise to travel with a partner and to think of your safety at all times, find out more about who you are going to stay with by using a reputable exchange site. The websites listed are in no preferential order and some may have a fee to join.
Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING
This was one of, if not the original site that set up this travelling system, it was set up by a young computer programmer in his late 20's, he thought of the idea in 1999 and set up the site in 2004, the idea caught on and Casey Fenton has been responsible for linking travellers by Couchsurfing around the world ever since. What is the CouchSurfing mission? This statement is taken directly from the website of Couchsurfing.com:
'When we incorporated CouchSurfing International, Inc. as a non-profit, we filed our official mission statement as:
"CouchSurfing seeks to internationally network people and places, create educational exchanges, raise collective consciousness, spread tolerance, and facilitate cultural understanding."
As a community we strive to do our individual and collective parts to make the world a better place, and we believe that the surfing of couches is a means to accomplish this goal. CouchSurfing isn't about the furniture- it's not just about finding free accommodations around the world- it's about participating in creating a better world. We strive to make a better world by opening our homes, our hearts, and our lives. We open our minds and welcome the knowledge that cultural exchange makes available. We create deep and meaningful connections that cross oceans, continents and cultures. CouchSurfing wants to change not only the way we travel, but how we relate to the world!'
Here is a list of the statistics they have published on their site:

As a member you can then log onto the website and contact other members. Do not use the account of another member or give access to your account to other people.
2. The Hospitality Club is free for guests and hosts.

3. When contacting another member for the first time, you have to supply this member with following information:
Full Name
Passport Number

This will give the other member security about your identity and the ability to check your profile and comments about you on the website.
